Are you getting married this year? Or maybe you are a bridesmaid or
the mother of a 2012 bride? Find out what new trends will be on the
horizon for 2012 weddings to get a jump on all of the planning.
Photography Trends: For generations, wedding
photography was very predictable. Group shots of the bridal party, posed
portraits of the newlyweds, and pictures of the guests at their tables
were the norm. To mix it up a little, brides might ask for a combination
of color and black and white photography. Things have changed radically
in the last ten to fifteen years in the field of wedding photography.
First came the photojournalism trend, then along came digital imagery.
In the last few years, brides and grooms have gone crazy for offbeat
effects, images taken in non-traditional places like alleys and
carnivals, and avant garde photo shoots like “trashing the dress”. There
is an interesting shift in 2012 wedding photography, back towards the
classic photos, but done with a fresh twist. A big trend for this year
is the panoramic photograph, which includes everyone at the wedding in
one wide shot. The newlyweds are front and center, along with their
parents and the bridesmaids in their pretty dresses and bridesmaid
jewelry. Behind them, everyone else is included in the picture. What a
cool visual guest book it will make to have one picture with everyone
who was there to share your wedding day.
Wedding Accessories Trends: Whether your style in
bridal gowns is classic or edgy, vintage or modern, your accessories are
one area where you can feel free to experiment. They allow brides and
bridesmaids the opportunity to express their personality and make their
wedding day attire feel very unique. One major trend for 2012 bridesmaid
jewelry and bridal jewelry is big necklaces. Try a bib style necklace
with some color to add a spark to a gown with a strapless neckline. High
heel shoes are very much on trend for this wedding season, particularly
those with a slight platform and a peep toe. Chic little birdcage veils
will remain popular through 2012 as an alternative to the traditional
veil.
Wedding Flower Trends: Romantic flowers are back in a
big way for 2012 weddings. We will see loosely arranged bouquets
overflowing with white cabbage roses and greenery. Pink peonies, apricot
sweet peas, and creamy dinner plate dahlias are other blossoms that
capture the romantic spirit. Bouquets should be loosely gathered and
allowed to gently cascade (just a little bit – nothing like the
contrived cascades of the 1980s). For the wedding centerpieces, continue
the romantic feeling with soft bouquets arranged in elegant footed
urns. Vintage inspired birdcages and terrariums are unique vessels for
creating centerpieces with an antique flavor.
Wedding Stationery Trends: Express your style with a
unique wedding invitation! A fabulous new trend in 2012 wedding
stationery is watercolor effects. Look for stationery that is softly
streaked with shades of blue, peach, pink, lilac, or spring green to use
for your invitations, save the date cards, programs, menus, and more.
Watercolor wedding stationery is unexpected, yet so pretty you will
wonder why no one thought of it before. It is a great option when you
want to create wedding invitations that are high original, yet not edgy.
When you send out a very special invitation, you can be sure that your
guests will be very excited to come and see what other fabulous things
you have planned for your 2012 wedding!
